Participation Costs

The purpose of the following is to make all participation costs transparent and publicly available. This will, when combined with information about funds available through fellowships, allow prospective applicants an overview of the funds available to cover operational costs (prior to any additional external fundraising in connection to the individual doctoral candidate study), i.e. funds that are directly available to support the implementation of each individual doctoral candidate study.

Full-funding

All AgTraIn doctoral candidates are in principle fully funded from the very start, i.e. the awarded fellowship(s) cover all salary/stipend costs and partcipation costs. However, regarding the latter, individual candidates may want to undertake, in collaboration with their supervisors, additional external fundraising.

Participation costs and available operational funds

The table shows the cost model of the AgTraIn consortium. All doctorates will be laboratory based. Besides the installation fees, all doctorates will be treated equally irrespective of nationality. Registration/tuition fees are paid to the host enrolling institution for the duration of the doctorate. Consortia fees are collected by the secretariat for joint activities, e.g. the annual workshop. Educational fees are specifically for consumables and travels, and follow the doctorate to the co-supervising institutions. While the educational fee is sufficient to cover the full expenses of a doctorate, departmental or project co-funding will often be provided to enable further experimental work. This will be settled on an individual basis. In cases where the EU contribution does not cover the expenses set by national legislation, co-funding will be ensured before the enrolment of the doctorate.
